New for January 2019, over a 2 day ongoing training and assessment the White Water Award will develop your personal paddling skills and ability to apply appropriate decision making skills on rivers up to grade 2.
The Award endorses your skill, judgment and decision making to ensure a successful and safe day out white water paddling. You will be confident in planning and undertaking journeys on moving water with proficient skills to be in control throughout.
Your award should be seen as a sound basis to build on your experience and knowledge associated with the PROGRESSIVE WHITE WATER AWARD.
All Kit and Equipment such as Wetsuits, Bouyancy Aids, Boats and Paddles are included.
Who this course is for: Kayakers who are already confident and efficient in paddling independently in the sheltered water environment with some experience of paddling whitewater aiming to paddle whitewater upto grade 2 proficiently.
What we may cover: Kit and equipment, journey planning, launching and landing, effective forward paddling, steering, turning, moving sideways, stopping, edging, support strokes, rolling, external factors to our paddling, safety of yourself and others, entering, crossing and exiting steady flows.
What to Bring: Swimwear or Quick Drying layers to go underneath a wetsuit, an old pair of shoes you don’t mind getting wet and a towel. Fleeces and wool jumpers are an additional layer that can be worn in winter times. If you have your own boat, wetsuit or drysuit and kit please bring it with you. Please also bring a packed lunch, hot drinks and snacks for each day.
Duration: This is a two day course (you can choose how many additional days you may need to complete the award with us at £80 per day).
Cost: £160 inclusive of certification fees, full instruction and all equipment required.
