Introduction to White Water Kayaking

Course Aims:
Skilfully delivered by UKCC Level 3 (or Level 5 coaches), this course aims to equip you with the necessary personal paddling skills in order that you can safely and effectively navigate on moving water. After which you will be able to select the appropriate skill and carry them out in a moving water environment to be able to successfully navigate rapids. This course will be carried out on grade 1 and 2 water.

The course will be run in 1 day modules. The days normally run from 9.30am until 5pm (depending on time of year).

Candidates should hold the BCU 2 Star or be confident that their ability is of a similar standard and have carried out some grade 1 river trips.

Course Price:
£75 per person as part of a group of 2 or more. £150 a day for a day of individual coaching.

Equipment required:

  • White Water Kayak and a suitable paddle
  • Dry suit or wetsuit that will keep you warm throughout the day along with a cag and suitable thermal layers for the weather conditions
  • Throw line
  • Food and warm drink (to be taken on the river) and suitable means of carr,y such as a dry bag, clipped into the boat
  • Dry land clothing suitable for outdoor use.

If you normally carry other kit on the river, not listed above, please bring it along for the group to discuss.

All of the equipment above can be purchased or borrowed through me but please let us know in advance so that I can bring the right amount of equipment.
