Course Aims:
Skilfully delivered by UKCC Level 3 (or Level 5 coaches), this course aims to equip you with the necessary leadership skills in order that you can make appropriate decisions in a leadership role in charge of a group of up to four competent paddlers in a moderate water environment (up to and including grade 3 water). You will be able to judge the conditions and standard of the group and make appropriate decisions along with the need to modify plans as required. This is a leadership award and not a coaching award and is not suitable for introducing beginners to the sport.

The course will be run over a minimum of 2 days.

Pre-requisites - Training:
Candidates should hold the BCU 3 Star or be confident that their ability is of a similar standard.

Pre-requisites - Assessment:
Candidates should have:
  • Stamped CR Form
  • Logged Experience
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • WWSR Training
  • Candidates must be 16 or over at the time of assessment. Please note that candidates under the age of 18 can take the award, but cannot be deemed responsible for leadership by law until they turn 18, and must hold a current first aid award and have BCU coaching membership or private insurance.

Course Price:
£160 per person for the 2 days (excluding any BCU registration fees)

Equipment required:

  • White Water Kayak and a suitable paddle
  • Dry suit or wetsuit that will keep you warm throughout the day.
